Our New Plantings

Our New Plantings

On Monday, 24 November, the entire Cullen Wines team joined Brian Martin and his vineyard crew to plant our new Malbec vines. This milestone follows three years of preparation, during which our highest priority has been building soil health and balance to assist optimal nutrient and mineral levels.

We began by allowing the soil to rest, followed by planting cover crops to restore nitrogen and phosphorus, nurturing and strengthening the soil. Throughout this process, we also maintained biodynamic preparations to further support and revitalise the land. We're thrilled to finally place these new vines into the earth.

Monday’s 0.4 Hectare of Malbec planting marks an exciting new chapter at Cullen, accompanied by additional plantings of 1.2 Hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, 0.4 hectares of Merlot, and 1 hectare of Chardonnay across our vineyard this week. Over the coming years, we look forward to watching these vines flourish, and when the time comes to harvest their fruit, we can’t wait to see how our Wilyabrup soils and unique Cullen terroir express themselves in these new plantings.
