2022 Legacy Series Malbec Flower Day

Malbec from the Mangan Vineyard was hand-harvested on a Flower Day in March and gently destemmed into 300L amphorae. The wine remained on skins for 59 days before being pressed on a Moon opposite Saturn astral event, then matured for 7 months in a one-year-old puncheon. Bottled on a Flower Day in late December 2022.

As a single vineyard varietal wine, it does showcase the unique terroir of Wilyabrup Malbec. 

This exceptional wine was produced on a certified biodynamic, carbon neutral and naturally powered estate.

Tasting Notes

2022 vintage grew wines of immense perfume and texture. The cooler season and low yields ensured that the health of the vines and hence the fruit quality. Exceptionally good for chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and of course Cabernet Sauvignon.

Colour: Deep purple with medium rim width and elegant ruby hue.

Bouquet: Perfumed rose florals with red and black berries, ripe plum, and a whisper of dark chocolate and spice.

Palate: Powerful and inviting, shows a harmonious balance of rose, violet, and plum. The palate unfolds into layers of cherry and wild red fruits, accented by white pepper, dark chocolate, and wild thyme. Silky tannins deliver remarkable length and persistence, giving the wine depth, focus, and finesse.

Food: Slow-braised lamb shoulder with rosemary and garlic.

Cellar: Enjoy now or up to 20 years.
