2021 Legacy Series Malbec MOSH Fruit Day

2021 Legacy Series Malbec MOSH Fruit Day

This legacy series wine was produced on a certified Biodynamic, Carbon Neutral and naturally powered estate.

Dry-farmed Malbec grapes were handpicked at the Mangan Vineyard, destemmed, crushed then naturally fermented into a 300L Amphora. Pressed after 28 days on the skins, the wine was aged 12 months in 1-year-old French oak before bottling on a flower in May 2022.

As a single vineyard varietal wine, it does showcase the unique terroir of Wilyabrup Malbec. Enjoy now or up to 20 years.

The 2021 harvest was defined by Covid and staff restrictions for hand harvesting. The low yields ensured that the crop was harvested at optimal condition and ripeness. Bird pressure was high and rain events during the growing seasons and also throughout harvest provided challenges.

In spite of these adverse conditions, in Wilyabrup, we finished harvest in good time and are very happy with the wines. Standout varieties: chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon.

Colour: Deep purple with medium rim width and elegant ruby hue.

Bouquet: Perfumed rose red berries laced by ripe plums and a hint of dark chocolate.

Palate: The purity and balance fine notes of plums, rose, violets and attractive blend of dark cherry and red fruits laced by an elegant touch of spice white pepper and nettle.
The silky tannins show extraordinary length and persistence, supporting the wine's complexity with precision.

Food: Slow cooked lamb and roasted winter vegetables seasoned rosemary and mediterranean herbs.
