2021 Grace Madeline Magnum

2021 Grace Madeline Magnum

Grace Madeline is Diana Madeline’s mother and Vanya Cullen’s maternal grand-mother. This wine named in her honour is a blend of 67% Sauvignon Blanc and 33% Semillon.
The Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon vines were planted on their own roots in 1976, and are farmed with 100% certified biodynamic, carbon positive methods.

The 2021 vintage was cooler than previous years creating greater aromatics. Once harvested the grapes are simply crushed to stainless steel and oak with over night skin contact. Barrel-aged for 5 months in 72% new oak.

The 2021 harvest was defined by Covid and staff restrictions for hand harvesting. The low yields ensured that the crop was harvested at optimal condition and ripeness. Bird pressure was high and rain events during the growing seasons and also throughout harvest provided challenges.
In spite of these adverse conditions, in Wilyabrup, we finished harvest in good time and are very happy with the wines. Standout varieties: chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon.

  • Colour Pale straw with green tinges
  • Cellar Enjoy now or for up to 15 years
  • Bouquet Citrus, kaffir lime, vanilla and curry leaf.
  • Food Kingfish ceviche, abalone and asparagus
  • Palate Vibrant acidity, minerality, and texture, framing citrus, curry leaf, melon, cumin and vanilla flavours. A lively and young wine, with persistent flavour and texture.
