This year in the great vintage of 2018, we are renaming the Cullen Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Semillon in honour of our maternal grandmother Grace Madeline. The Cullen Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon vines are on their own rootstock, and are now old vines, planted 1976-1988.

2017 Mangan Vineyard MOSH Field Blend
This quality wine was produced on a certified Biodynamic, Carbon Neutral and naturally powered estate. The Sauvignon Blanc and Verdelho were harvested exclusively from our Mangan Vineyard and on the day when the Moon was opposite Saturn. A great day to pick as nutrients tend to be even stronger and showing fantastic minerality.

2018 Cullen Amber Wine
This new release of our Amber wine is a blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc selected from our certified Biodynamic vineyard. The wine was left on the skins and fermented partially before being pressed off. The skin maceration went from 9 days to 44 days depending on the parcel. The fruit was processed in different vessels: open fermenters, closed tanks as well as amphorae. This explains some of the complexity and the many layers of this wine. We look at it being a natural step in creative as well as artisanal winemaking.

This wine, our flagship 2019 Kevin John has been sourced from our old chardonnay vines planted in 1976-1988. They are Gin Gin Clone, also known as the Old Wente Clone originally from UC Davis. They produce tiny yields of the best quality fruit.

2014 Mangan Vineyard Semillon
Although the weather leading up to and including vintage was warm, the fruit produced by all varieties in the vineyards of Cullen Wines in 2014 was exceptional. We had no rain in January, February and until the end of harvest in March. These low yields, fantastic PH and great acids levels translated in wines of great flavour and style. The fruit was picked at 13° Baumé and with a high natural acidity. The wine was fermented naturally and had no barrel ageing.

This quality wine was produced on a certified Biodynamic, Carbon Neutral and naturally powered estate. Chenin Blanc was planted on the Cullen Vineyard Estate in 1976. This dessert wine is made from hand picked cane cut grapes with the fruit quality being exceptional, reflecting an excellent growing season.

2020 Late Harvest Chenin Blanc
The Chenin Blanc was cane cut before being hand-picked on the 10th of March during the perigee Full Moon, the last day of harvest. Capturing the beautiful natural acidity of Chenin, the wine was chilled to finish with 120g/L of sugar. 375mL bottle.

2016 Flower Day Malbec
Dry farmed Malbec grapes were handpicked at the Mangan Vineyard and naturally fermented, then destemmed into a 300L Amphora. Pressed after 95 days on the skins, the wine was aged 6 months in 1 year old French oak.

Whole bunch pressed and fermented with wild yeast in Flower Day Barrels. The oak was harvested and coopered on a Flower Day according to the biodynamic calendar. We find this gives the wine a more minerality and line.

2012 Cullen Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 1.5L Magnum
As usual, this blend contains a greater volume of Sauvignon Blanc than Semillon, which reflects the outstanding qualities of the fruit produced by the former variety on the Cullen Vineyard, while recognising that it can still be enhanced by the complimentary characteristics of the latter variety. The fruit was picked at optimal ripeness, which was represented by Baume’s of only 9.6° – 11.9°, resulting in the highly desirable production of an alcohol concentration of only 10.9%. Complexity and completeness have been enhanced through maturing a substantial component of the wine in new oak.

2018 New Moon
The fruit was picked on a new moon in early February 2018 hence the name of the wine. It is a “pétillant naturel” based on the méthode ancestrale.
