Cullen Wines Sundowner and Fundraiser for the Bushfires
All of us here at Cullen’s are deeply distressed by the loss and destruction caused by the bushfires in Australia.
In addition to the lives lost and property, livestock and wildlife destroyed there has been a huge impact on the livelihoods of those who have been directly affected by this dreadful calamity including many of our colleagues in the wine production industry.
In an effort to help support the victims of the bushfires we have made a donation to the Adelaide Hills Wine Region Fire Appeal. In addition to this, on Wednesday the 15th of January we held our own fundraising event on the Cullen Verandah in an effort to assist those affected and help with the healing of the land. More than 100 guests attended, bringing with them a plate of food and a bottle to share, as well as a donation towards the bushfire appeal. Live music by Scott Wise and Gary Burke set the mood, and as the sun set over the vines, generously donated wine, experiences and produce were auctioned and raffled off to raise further funds. By the end of this fabulous evening, over $20,000 was raised, and we are incredibly grateful for those who attended and participated in this effort, thank you so much!!
We must also recognise the passion, drive and initiative by Vanya for making this happen, as well as the tireless efforts by the Cullen Wines Team who donated their time on the evening to make sure the event ran smoothly and successfully.
All money raised from the Sundowner has been donated to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Recovery and Relief Fund and to WIRES (NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service Inc.) as a contribution towards their ongoing and amazing efforts.
