Where has the sun gone!! While April was the warmest on record for us sandgropers, May has started with true winter cloud colour and two inches of rain in 24 hours. Just the right timing for the cover crop that was sown on Anzac day before the full moon a week ago. In the garden we have sown poppy out the front garden beds and who knows they could be out in full display for remembrance day in November.
It’s the middle of autumn and the drawing of energy back into the land can be seen, as you enter Cullen Wines, with the mulberry trees changing colour and dropping its leaves. The vines won’t be too far if we have some more cooler nights but they are few and far between. The early morning fog of the past week combined with glorious sunrise makes for a spectacular start to the day even if it is to go snail and slug hunting.
The lots on offer in this special auction have been donated to raise funds for the Len Evans Foundation, a charitable organisation with tax-exempt status. All donations to the Foundation by Australian taxpayers are deductible.

What a glorious time to be in the garden on this fine autumn day, the silvereye are sneaking back to peck small holes in the tomatoes and as one chase’s them out the kookaburra’s can be heard laughing there beaks off. Whilst harvesting veggies and fruit on these early mornings the crunching of snails can be heard underfoot. Especially now the rains have started. Is this the break in the season? Aahh the smells and sounds of autumn!!
